Psychological Ownership of Nursing Care: A Qualitative Content Analysis

Background: Nursing care is one of the main tasks nursing. Currently, organizations are trying to improve quality nursing satisfy their patients and reduce cost length hospital stays. Psychological ownership (PO) intended be a shortcut achieving this goal through cognitive-emotional changes in nurses. Objectives: This study was conducted investigate PO care. Methods: The present performed with qualitative content analysis method. purposive sample selected based on inclusion exclusion criteria. data were collected from Iranian nurses May 2013 November 2021 semi-structured, in-depth, one-on-one interviews subsequently analyzed using method Graneheim Lundman. A code ethics required permissions obtained. Lincoln Guba’s criteria used ensure reliability study, MAXQDA software (version 10) for management. Results: Data conventional 13 (mean age: 39 years; 69% female), resulting extraction 395 primary codes, 71 subcategories, 16 4 categories (e.g., professional competence, practical efficacy, holistic advocacy, identity). Conclusions: understood that sense meant seeking acquire sufficient competence an appropriate position practice see themselves as supportive influential healthcare system have identity.
